Geology (sub-terranean)
; new gravel terraces (Riss) and old alluvia of the Garonne
(from the Pujols-Barsac depression). Pedology
(soil) : the majority of the soil is cobbly, sandy and gravelly,
heavy with pebbles
and also on rocky banks levelled with seedlings, relative to the
soils of Barsac, which brings
a mineral flavour to our wine.
The disposition of the vineyard
: the plots of land are very homogeneous,
practically of the same consistency, which thus prevents any inonveniences
of parcelling out.
Geographically, the « SAHUC » is located on the inclination
of Bastor Lamontagne
and of the classified Suduiraut 1er Cru, in department 109.
Property surface : 10 hectares. |
|
Planting : 70% Sémillon,
30% Muscadelle and Sauvignon (from sauvignon gris). Rootstocks : 3309
C. The Sémillon is the classic variety
of Sauternais.
The Muscadelle and the Sauvignon, very aromatic vines, bring a very
fruity note, the Sauvignon gris in particular.
The Sauvignon gris is fully cultivated (same as the Muscadelle),
not botrytized. Its consistency in sweetness
varies between 12 and 14 degrees, depending on the climatic conditions.
During the harvest, it is a rose colour. Its particular flavour
is in part from the typicity of the wine
of Sahuc Lestour, to be recognized also as young, very fragrant,
easy to drink and keeping well.
Average age of vines : 35 years.
In certain plots of land you can discover vines as old as 50 years
of age,
quite misshapen, that we carefully take care of, since these are
the vines
that produce the best in quality and the best in flavour. |
